With just six months to go before their first child arrived, the owner of this terrace house in Islington contracted us to design and implement structural changes to the lower ground floor, install a new kitchen and add a small glass extension. Located in a conservation area with a three-month lead time on planning applications, our first task was the glass box extension.

We designed a very large open-plan kitchen. At the centre is a substantial 3m long island, providing appliances and preparation space on one side and seating on the other. A single piece of Corian provides a contemporary worktop to the island, which has quickly become the hub of the home.
