5 interior design favourites – upholstered beds

Over the last few years upholstered beds have grown in popularity. Once a luxury item they are now a mainstream choice especially as homeowners recreate the style of smart boutique hotels. Today we are taking a look at 5 of our favourite – they are our interior winners for upholstered beds.

Button and Sprung

First up in our favourite 5 is the Camelia bed from Button and Sprung. This picture is from a recent Islington project where we used this bed in the master bedroom.

Shown here in Super King size the Camellia really adds a welcoming touch to a bedroom. The wings envelope you, imagine Sunday morning coffee and papers here.

We chose a soft wool for this bed as it works perfectly with the Little Greene colour Welcome used to decorate the walls.

Buttoning is often seen on upholstered beds – it’s not just for Chesterfield sofas these days. If you’ve seen it in a boutique hotel you loved now you can recreate that style at home.

And So to Bed

This beauty stands out among all the beds on the market – it’s the sheer scale of it, how amazing does it look in this bedroom.

The Emilia Wing upholstered bed from And So to Bed is probably the bed I’d chose for my own bedroom. I love the size of it, the headboard is 160cm high.

If you order this bed in Emperor size – that’s a whopping 202cm wide – I think you could probably live in it! Maybe I’ll put this on my wish list …..

Savoir Beds

If buttoning isn’t your thing and you are averse to velvet (some people are apparently!) maybe this one will be more your style.

Recently launched this bed is a collaboration between Savoir Beds and the Bill Amberg Studio. Savoir are widely recognised as the most luxurious beds in the world – they supply The Savoy and many top hotels. Bill Amber is an industry leader in bespoke bespoke leather products.

For this bed they’ve used a Bill Amberg leather called Print to create this stunning bed. There’s a great video explaining the collaboration process here.

Love Your Home

From big and bold to subtle and beautiful next up in our favourite 5 is the Hepworth bed from Love Your Home.

The bed really has a cool contemporary feel, it wouldn’t dominate a room so if you like pared down style this is your choice. There are over 100 fabrics to choose from including some lovely relaxed linens to provide a laid back look. Also, most of them are mark resistant – something you need to remember to check for, especially if you enjoy breakfast in bed.

Part of a collaboration between Love your Home and Living etc we love the style of this bed.

Back to buttoning and a large headboard for our final favourite but this time with added storage.

We recently specified the Rosalie Ottoman bed from Sofa.com for an apartment redesign project. Many homes, especially in urban areas, suffer with a lack of storage. Shoving things under the bed might be one solution but you can never get at them.

This bed has a very efficient system that lifts the mattress up to allow you full access to the space underneath. It’s the perfect place to hide away all the household linens. Easily accessible there is no excuse for a badly dressed bed.

So that’s the round up of our 5 favourite upholstered beds. From grand and bold to small and petite – with some storage thrown in along the way. What’s your favourite? Drop us a line below and let us know your dream bed.
